District heating is a form of heating that consists in distribution of superheated, hot water or steam from a centralised location with an energy-producing plant through networks of insulated underground pipes.

With this system, the water reaches homes by operating in the heating or cooling systems, and then goes back to said centralised location at a lower or higher temperature.
