Heat by burning processing wastes

A MODEL COMPANY

The farm produces top quality seasonal flowers both in pots and for transplantation, for wholesale and for retail sale in the garden center of the company. It has three thousand square meters of modern greenhouses, to which there will be added in the near future, another 2,500, and approximately 1,500 square meters of technical buildings in insulated tempered glass. The production chain is characterized by a significant level of automation with recovery of rainwater, collected in a collection tank and reused without any dispersion in the environment. The artificial lighting used to anticipate the blooms is produced with low consumption and high efficiency light bulbs, and heating is distributed with coils placed under the beds of growth.

BOILER FED WITH PROCESSING WASTES

Pride and joy of the farm in terms of saving energy, is the integration of existing solar panels and a biomass boiler which produces 800 kW / h of hot water used for heating greenhouses and technical buildings. A system designed and installed by Uniconfort, which produces the heat necessary for the proper functioning of the company at current state, and is also designed to meet future needs, as a result of planned extensions. Designed on the basis of the farm needs at the Office of Research and Development of Uniconfort, the boiler is capable of burning self-produced solid biomass obtained from processing wastes. A fuel, therefore, which has even lower costs than chips found in the market, which already allows a considerable saving compared to diesel. The solid biomass boiler not only eliminates CO2 and dust emissions into the environment, thanks to a multi cyclone scrubber, but is also very economically advantageous.

60,000 LITERS OF DIESEL PER YEAR ARE ELIMINATED

The plant burns about 200 tons per year of wet biomass, replacing the consumption of 60,000 liters of diesel.

ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY AND COST CONTAINMENT

This is the goal achieved with the installation of a solid biomass boiler by Nicola Paulitti, who during over twenty years, along with his family, at Torsa of Pocenia in the province of Udine, has managed a floriculture company which takes advantage of excellent applications from the point of view of technological development, environmental sustainabil- ity as well as energy saving.
