A cogeneration plant to get clean electric energy
THERMAL AND ELECTRIC ENERGY COST REDUCED BY ONE-THIRD
“La TiEsse srl” in Cimadolmo (TV), a major pellet manufacturer, wanted to relocate production due to high energy costs, but thanks to a solid biomass boiler installed by Uniconfort, they were able to reduce energy expenditure by one third and so decided to continue working in Italy.
ITALIAN PELLETS STAY IN ITALY...
“La TiEsse srl “, known under brand names BRUCCIOLO and BRAVO PELLET, produces around 60 thousand tons of pellets for domestic use per year – 20% of national production (source AIEL)– intended exclusively for the domestic market. This market consumes two and half million tons of pellets per year and needs to look further abroad for more than 90% of total purchases; this figure alone gives an idea of how important it was to keep La TiEsse production inside Italian borders!
...THANKS TO A COGENERATION PLANT FUELLED BY SOLID BIOMASS
In collaboration with Pal in Ponte di Piave (TV), Uniconfort designed and installed a cogeneration plant fuelled by a solid biomass boiler for La TiEsse. This plant produces both heat and electricity. The savings derived from purchasing fuel that costs up to half less compared to petroleum derivatives are just an added bonus of CHP, which allows the optimisation of fuel use by improving its economic performance. The result? The energy bill of the Treviso company was reduced by one-third.
THE BOILER INSTALLED...
The Global 500 thermal oil boiler, which is connected to an ORC system, burns 15-16 thousand tons of material a year and generates between 1 MW and 4 MW of thermal power. The electricity is sold to the grid and the heat feeds the dryer for the production of pellets.
...IN ONLY 11 MONTHS
The plant has been up and running since December 2013 and took just 11 months between the design and its launch. Uniconfort carried out all the necessary steps, from feasibility studies to practices to obtain incentives, from the procurement of research funding of the supply chain, design, construction and installation right up to maintenance over the years. A long and complex process customised by Uniconfort based on the particular needs, to provide the best technologies and to guarantee safety, cost effectiveness and quality.
