Clean energy from the horses’ litter
Enhance the waste from the energetic point of view: this is what happened in England and US’s stables, where, thanks to technology Uniconfort, horses’ litter is burned in order to produce heat and electricity. It ‘s the first case in the world of a plant designed to burn this type of waste that is usually disposed paying or, after appropriate processing, is used to produce compost. This is a good example of a closed chain where the customer uses their material to meet energy needs and not spend anything for disposing of the waste or to transport it.
IN ENGLAND...
Uniconfort, designed and installed at the British Racing School in New Market, Suffolk (UK) a boiler of 350 kW powered by waste from the litter of horses, consisting of straw, manure and sawdust. This material is very humid, with a very low energetic density and high ash content that for these characteristics, requires “ad hoc” measures relating to the fuel system and combustion control. The boiler produces hot water at 95°C which feeds the heating system of the stables.
“WHAT A GOOD IDEA!” SAID THE QUEEN
An experience that likes to the Queen Elizabeth, who has asked to be replicated in the new London headquarters of the King’s Troop, the stables where they train horses and riders in the service of the Royal family. Burning bedding horses, 120 fine examples that animate parades and events of the Royal family, Uniconfort boiler will heat the stables, which accommodate 170 animals, school and riding indoors, museum and other buildings, producing heat at zero cost and zero emissions.
...AND THE U.S.
Even in the Kentucky Horse Park Farm, one of the largest riding schools in the United States where more than 250 people are working, Uniconfort has installed a boiler that burns waste products from the stables. But the same system also generates clean electrical energy in adequate quantities to cover the need of the large structure and an excess, which is sold by generating a gain. Finally, to close the virtuous cycle, the ashes produced from the gasification and combustion, approximately 10% of the burnt material, are used to fertilize the land. The riding gets big savings and environmental benefits that allowed us to qualify for a loan for thestartingpoint bytheCleanWaterStateRevolvingFund.
